The short version
- Your selfie never leaves your phone. It's analyzed on the device and isn't uploaded anywhere.
- Photos you check with “Should I buy this?” or the moodboard never leave your phone either.
- There are no accounts. We don't ask for your name or email.
- We show no ads, and we never use anything about your face for advertising.
- Outfit ideas come from Pinterest: on the outfit ideas page, and as a preview on your result, home and palette pages. Pinterest sees those visits. Taking a selfie, “Should I buy this?” and the moodboard never load anything from Pinterest.
- You can delete everything at any time, below.
Your selfie
Your selfie is analyzed entirely on your phone, in your browser. The app checks the photo (lighting, sharpness, one face), measures the colors of your skin, eyes, brows and hair, and works out your season on the device. The face and hair models it uses are downloaded from our own site, not from a third party.
The photo and those color measurements are never uploaded. They don't reach our servers or any AI provider, and we can't see them. Your result and the measured colors are saved on your device so you can come back to them; “Delete my data” below removes them. We never use your photo for ads or to train any model.
What we keep
- Your result: the season, close alternative seasons, undertone, depth, clarity, contrast and confidence, plus a short text description of your coloring and the lighting. No photo, no color measurements and no face landmarks.
- Photo check results: which checks a photo didn't pass or warned about (for example “too dark”), so we can see where people struggle. Not the measurements behind them.
- Your answers: whether the result felt right, the season a professional gave you if you tell us, and any feedback you write. If you take the optional quiz, your answers aren't sent to us; we only record how many questions you answered.
- How the app is used: which steps you reach (for example “result viewed”), and when you tap a shopping link: the color, category, retailer, which page it was on and the time.
- A random ID stored on your device, which links these records together. It isn't connected to your name, email or phone.
- A scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, used only to limit how many results can be saved per day.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page visits without cookies. Your result is saved on your device so you can come back to it.
Where it's stored and who sees it
The website is served by Cloudflare, and the records above are stored in a database hosted by Neon in Sydney. Only the Verity team can access them, and we use them to run and improve Verity. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Shopping links
Some pages link to Amazon searches for colors in your palette, such as “Shop your colors” under your palette and on the outfit ideas page. They're plain searches, and we don't earn anything from them; if that changes, the links and this page will say so first. A link carries only the color name, the clothing type, and “women's” or “men's” if you picked one. Your photos, face measurements and result aren't sent, although the color names come from your palette. Amazon's own privacy policy applies once you're on its site.
Outfit ideas from Pinterest
The outfit ideas page shows real outfits and hair colors from Pinterest: pins from our own board, and public boards picked by color analysts. Pinterest's widgets load automatically when you open that page: your browser loads the widgets and images directly from Pinterest. That shares your IP address and browser details with Pinterest, and the board requested shows which season you're looking at. Pinterest may set its own cookies. If you're signed in to Pinterest in the same browser, Pinterest may link this to your account, and it may use it for its own purposes, including ads, under Pinterest's privacy policy.
Your result, home and palette pages also show a few pins from our board under “Outfit ideas”, so Pinterest's widget loads there too, the same way. Because the pins shown suit your season, Pinterest could work out which season you were shown. Nothing from Pinterest loads while you take a selfie or use “Should I buy this?” or the moodboard. Your photos, face measurements and the rest of your result are never sent to Pinterest. To avoid Pinterest entirely, use a content blocker: you'll see outfits drawn in your colors instead of pins.
The image you can share from your result never includes Pinterest photos: it shows your palette (and licensed photos, when we have them). It's made on your phone.
How long we keep it
We keep your records until you delete them or the beta ends, whichever comes first. Rate-limit records are only used for 24 hours.
Delete my data
This removes your results, answers, feedback, activity and shopping-link clicks from our database, and clears what's saved on this device. If you used Verity on more than one device, do this on each one.
